On June 18, I graduated from the 8th grade. On June 19, I left for Bermuda. For the next four days, I lived on a 65-foot sailboat with 15 other people. I was one of the youngest competitors in the Marion Bermuda Race, and it was my second time doing so with the Massachusetts Maritime Academy crew.

Secor Volvo Fishers Island Sound Race

The Secor Volvo Fishers Island Sound Race, sponsored by Secor Volvo in New London, CT, featured a picturesque racetrack around Fishers Island Sound. The ten-mile, “mini-VOR” course was broken up into four legs, with “stopovers” at Mason’s Island, Ram Island, Groton Long Point and Fishers Island Yacht Club.

MudRatz Do the Volvo!

The MudRatz ECSA Opti Race Team was created with the support of the Eastern Connecticut Sailing Association (ECSA) and the Mystic River Mudhead Sailing Association to help enthusiastic Optimist sailors in eastern Connecticut develop and improve their sailing and racing skills. In May, the team traveled to Newport, RI for the stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15.
