For nearly half a century, the Fools’ Rules Regatta has stood as the crown jewel of Jamestown, RI’s summer season, drawing adventurers, spectators, and creative minds to East Ferry Beach.

On Saturday, August 17 (rain date August 18), the Jamestown Yacht Club transforms the beach into a colorful festival of imagination where families and friends come together to build and race “boats” made from unconventional of materials. A true highlight of the summer, this iconic event celebrates creativity and competition, drawing participants and spectators from far and wide.

Boat building begins at 9:00 am. Prebuilt boats are welcome, but they must be disassembled and rebuilt on-site. The excitement kicks off with the firing of the cannon at 11:00 am, signaling the start of the first race. Contestants will navigate a 500-yard downwind course in their creative craft.
