Edson International, a manufacturer of pumps, marine steering systems and marine accessories in New Bedford, MA, has been acquired by marine industry veteran Chip Johns, who previously owned Vanguard Sailboats.
Jacob Edson launched the company in 1859 with the invention of the diaphragm pump. The Keene family, with brothers Will and Hank along with father Henry, contributed to the company’s growth. “The Keene family has been at the helm of Edson for over sixty years, and we are pleased to hand the leadership over to Chip,” said Will Keene.
Adam Cove, CEO of Edson since 2016, will remain with the organization through the transition. “I am excited about the passion and expertise Chip Johns brings to the company,” said Cove. “Chip has all the tools and experience to lead Edson into its next chapter.”
“Edson has an exceptional team, with an unrivaled product line and reputation, that we will continue to make even better,” said Johns. For more information, visit edsonintl.com. ■
