The New England Multihull Association (NEMA) will hold its first “Triple Crown” racing series this summer, with multihulls-only races at Martha’s Vineyard, Buzzards Bay, and Newport.
The traditional Black Dog Dash, a pursuit race starting at anchor in Vineyard Haven Harbor, with a course out to Cape Poge, to Edgartown, and back to the Vineyard Haven breakwater, kicks off the Triple Crown on July 20.
The following week, the new Buzzards Bay Multihull Regatta will be hosted by the Beverly Yacht Club out of Marion, MA. The BBMR will follow the same format as last year’s Corsair Nationals: a distance race Friday, July 26, followed by buoy racing on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 & 28.
The Newport Unlimited will complete the Triple Crown series, with two days of racing in Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday August 11. The overall winner will be crowned in gold!
All racing is open to any multihull with a NEMA rating. Registration is through nemasail.org or through the links on the NEMA website. Contact NEMA Commodore Andy Houlding (andyhoulding@gmail.com) with any questions. ■
