Our friends at Sails Up 4 Cancer are pleased to announce the first annual Creating Hope Gala in recognition of World Cancer Prevention Month. The Gala, at Mystic Marriott in Groton, CT on February 3, 2024, is the eve of World Cancer Day. Tickets are $150 per person which includes dinner, two drink tickets, a silent auction and live music from The Cartells. The Gala is black tie optional, and proceeds will benefit the Sails Up 4 Cancer Spinnaker Fund.
Sails Up is extremely proud of its Spinnaker Fund, which is specifically tailored to individuals and families who are suffering financial hardship because of lost income due to their struggles with cancer. Since the Spinnaker Fund was created in 2012, Sails Up has donated over $400,000 to over 250 families in the Southeastern Connecticut community. Sails Up realizes that the last thing a cancer patient needs is additional stress because of this predicament. There are very few to turn for assistance and Sails Up is proud to help fill this void. Sails Up is a small organization and cannot promise to solve all financial woes but will do whatever it can based on patient needs.
Su4C takes pride in raising awareness during National Cancer Prevention Month and aims to cut the statistics. One-third of all cancers can be prevented. Act by choosing healthy habits, like quitting smoking, being active and at a healthy weight, limiting exposure to radiation, and use your sunscreen. Prevention is key to living a healthy lifestyle and reducing risks. We are all affected by cancer, either directly or indirectly.
