This event has fun activities for the whole family including the opportunity to sail on historic Herreshoff 12½s, and admission is free.

This New England Science & Sailing Foundation event, featuring sailing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, is free and open to the public. Participants are welcome to enjoy ocean adventure activities and giveaways, tour the facilities, meet the staff, and learn more about summer programs at NESS. Celebrate America’s birthday circa 1876 with boat races on the Mystic River, a pedestrian walking race around the Green, military exercises with the “boys in blue,” an old-fashioned children’s spelling bee, a parade, a concert on the Village Green by the Mystic Silver Cornet Band, and more.  All activities are included with Museum admission or membership.

Steam down the Mystic River towards Fisher Island Sound for a sunset cruise on the historic Sabino with everyone’s favorite foot-stompin’ sing-along, rock & roll sea chantey band.

Sailfest is Southeastern Connecticut’s premiere summertime event, complete with a major fireworks display, amusement rides, free entertainment, ships, and over 200 vendors lining the streets.
