Paul Krantz: Riding the Wild Ocean

In this Mystic Seaport Museum Adventure Series presentation, lifelong sailor and author Paul Krantz will discuss how he got into ocean adventuring, how the wild seas depicted on the cover of his book Riding the Wild Ocean: the Circumnavigation of Cape Cod in an 18-Foot Sloop, and Other Sailing Adventures, developed from the unique elements of topography, ocean currents and weather in and around Nantucket Sound. He’ll also discuss how he prepared for the all-weather, night and day journeys at sea. The 18-foot sloop Yvaledon featured on the book’s cover (in an amazing painting by marine artist Russ Kramer) will be on display dockside (river ice permitting).
