Weather Forecasting Seminar
The National Lighthouse Museum and America’s Boating Club (U.S. Power Squadron, established 1914, Staten Island Club) have teamed up to offer a seminar in weather forecasting. Topics covered include Air Masses and Fronts; Highs, Lows and Winds; Mid-latitude Storms; Tropical Storms and Hurricanes; Clouds; Thunderstorms; Fog; Beaufort Scale; Forecasting; Forecasting Tips; and Internet Weather Resources. Lost Lighthouses of New York Harbor
In this National Lighthouse Museum presentation, historian, librarian and sailor Andrew Wilson will take attendees on an armchair cruise around the harbor visiting the vanished lighthouses and aids to navigation that made the old port of New York the greatest in the world.
