A new wooden boat restoration shop has opened in Portsmouth, Rhode Island and they’re already busy with projects even though they still haven’t finished unpacking. Padanaram Boatworks, owned by David Strecker and Keith Brown, is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of wooden boats. They offer services for boat owners from seasonal maintenance and repair to full restorations, and all aspects of marine carpentry. At the moment, Strecker and Brown are busy with a number of projects, both large and small, so the unpacking will have to wait.
The name Padanaram Boatworks is from Strecker’s original shop where the business started. The new shop is located on 2451 East Main Road, Unit 7 in Portsmouth, at the new Sakonnet Business Center. They are insured for on-site and on-the-water shipwright services throughout Southeastern New England. Strecker and Brown have over thirty years of boatbuilding experience, and can provide solutions to any wooden boat owner or sailor, to keep them on the water as much as possible.
