Over the years, our friends at the Warrior Sailing and the USMMA Sailing Foundation have received a number of sail donations for vessels large and small. Many of these get put to use on program boats, while others are sold for fundraising purposes.
“We started passing along sails to our friends at Sea Bags a while back to help supply them with plenty of raw material for their beautiful bags,” said Warrior Sailing Program Director Ben Poucher. “To show their support of our program, the Sea Bags team in Portland, Maine has made a limited run of five handcrafted Warrior Sailing totes which we will be auctioning off over the coming year.”
“While
these auctions will primarily be at the various clubs that host Basic Training
Camps,” Poucher continued, “we wanted to share one bag online with our broader
community of supporters. Take a peek and find out other ways to support Warrior
Sailing here.
“If you plan on making a bid, you’ll need to register with an email address so we
can keep you in the loop on who wins!”
Warrior Sailing provides maritime education and outreach for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. We do so by facilitating opportunities for skill development and building partnerships between the military and marine communities. Using sailing as a platform, Warrior Sailing positively impacts the participant’s physical and mental health while reconnecting them with the camaraderie and teamwork previously found in military service.
The USMMA Sailing Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 public foundation. Its mission is to actively solicit the donation of vessels to be used in various maritime programs for education and training. The Sailing Foundation works with numerous partner organizations to advance maritime training and education opportunities.
